Linux System Administrator – Developmental [2023-021]

Space Operations

ITS, LLC. is looking for a Junior Linux System Administrator to join a team of SAs supporting customers located at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory.

Please note that this position is a hybrid position, the candidate will be required to work on-site at the customer location in Pasadena, CA 2-4 times a week. All candidates must be able to work in Pasadena on the first day of employment.

Due to past issues with relocation, only candidates that are currently local to the Pasadena CA area can be considered for this position.

Duties

Job duties may include, and are not limited to:

The installation, configuration, and maintenance of:

•enterprise infrastructure (switches, storage devices, SAN and NAS devices)

•physical and virtual machines (servers, VMware ESXi VMs, cloud instances)

•RHEL-compatible operating systems (RHEL, Oracle Linux)

•opensource and commercially available Linux services, applications, and technologies

•storage (NAS or SAN, NFS, samba).

•Working with Windows and Mac OS and equipment

•Implementing patches and software and firmware updates

•Working with existing backup solutions to perform data backup/restoration

•Documenting processes, procedures, and technical walkthroughs

•Monitoring systems and responding to incidents (at times during off-hours)

•Security vulnerability remediation and system migrations

•Customer support via on-site visits, phone calls, emails, and ticketing systems

This position requires a U.S. Person who is eligible to obtain any required Export Authorization





Required Skills:

•Two or more years of recent and uninterrupted experience as a Linux System Administrator preferably using RedHat, other Linux variants are fine

•Working knowledge with Linux command line

•Excellent verbal and written communication skills

•Knowledge and ability to work with (move/install) equipment common to computing environments (i.e. printers, computer racks, storage devices, workstations, networking equipment including cables, etc.)

•Understand the patching process for Linux

•Ability to install software based on instructions.



Bachelor’s degree

A minimum of two years of experience demonstrating technical, communication, and development skills. May substitute experience for education.

In compliance with Colorado’s Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the salary range for this role is $70,000- $90,000. Please note, salary is based on education, experience, and responsibilities.
