Linux System Administrator [2022-073]

ITS is looking for two Linux System Administrators to work with a team of System Administrators supporting customers located at Raytheon as well as at the customer site at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory. Job duties include all aspects of system administration including installation, configuration, implementation, and maintenance of Linux servers, both hardware and virtual.
The System Administrator will be responsible for disk storage devices, SAN and NAS devices, and network equipment. Responsibilities also include building, configuring, and troubleshooting open source and commercial applications, backups and restoration, user support, and documentation.

Required:
Six years of System Administrator experience using Linux.
• In depth knowledge of Linux with a focus on RHEL 7 & 8, including system design, configuration, maintenance (i.e. firewall, sudoers, LDAP, SSL certs and the automounter), upgrade and administration.
• Strong knowledge of virtualization (i.e. VMWare, etc.).
• Strong knowledge of Storage Technology, NetApp, both local and hosted, including design, implementation, maintenance, upgrade / transition planning and execution.
• Strong knowledge of design, implementation, and support of networked systems and technologies such NFS, DNS, and LDAP.
• Good understanding of routers, switches and computer network configurations including firewalls.
• Strong knowledge of physical server, and desktop hardware.
• Good understanding of management practices and related tools such as Ansible, Puppet, Git, and Docker
• Scripting experience such as shell and Python
• Experience in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of both public licensed and Commercial-off-the-Shelf software tools
• Experience with a trouble ticketing system
• Understanding of Amazon AWS
Desired:
• Excellent user interface / interpersonal / written and verbal communication skills
• The ability to operate in a team environment consisting of both internal and external members, co-workers and customers
• The ability to document and electronically store daily task information, architecture, processes, and user instructions
• Experience with monitoring tools such as Nagios, Cacti and Ganglia
• The ability to work independently

In compliance with Colorado’s Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the salary range for this role is $100,000 - $160,000. Please note, salary is based on education, experience, and responsibilities.
