Software Engineer [2022-059]

Software

As a software engineer supporting the organization, you will participate in a development team that uses agile methodologies combined with mature software practices and a technology-supported development infrastructure. You will develop software and use enabling technologies to implement new capabilities and extend existing capabilities. You will help develop and maintain the deployed system, diagnose and resolve issues, and provide support to end-users as needed. Efforts can include working on a program into the maintenance or sustainment phase. As a member of the software development organization, you will execute all development processes and help mature those processes over time. Familiarity with the space domain is a plus.

Essential Functions:

• Designing and developing applications in Java

• Design and creation of Linux applications

• Containerization: development and deployment of containerized systems (Docker, Kubernetes)

• Developing, maintaining, updating relational databases utilizing industry best practices (SQL Database operations and management preferred)

• Developing and testing applications with internet connectivity (including data import/export)

• Development/deployment of systems capable of accreditation for classified processing

• Support development of network architecture, Web UI development in an Agile development environment (SAFe 5.0)

• Work effectively with minimal supervision

• Support software requirements analysis and use case development

• Perform software design and rapid prototyping

• Implement software per requirements and design guidelines

• Participate and present in design and code reviews

• Perform unit, integration and system test activities

• Investigate and address reported software issues

• Support product documentation activities

• Direct customer contact at customer site, on premises or remote

• Interface with customers to support existing operations and manage reported issues

• Interface with customers to identify unmet needs and potential solutions



Required Skills:

Required:

• Experience with Java with network programming

• Experience architecting and developing enterprise systems including microservices, containers and distributed systems

• Experience with containerization of existing software and development and deployment of containerized systems (Docker, Kubernetes)

• Experience with Apache Nifi and Apache Kafka

• Full stack development, including UI and backend data management services

• Experience with XML, JSON, YAML

• Experience with RESTful API development

• Relational database design and administration, including table design, query design and database performance optimization (thorough understanding of SQL)

• General understanding of NoSQL databases (MongoDB, etc.)

• Experience with Linux (RHEL 7+ preferred) and Linux server administration

• Knowledge in principles of network architecture, web UI development, and Agile software development (SAFe 5.0 preferred)

• Bachelor’s Degree in computer science or related discipline and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience, or Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience

Desired:

• Space Domain experience

• Mission Ground Systems

• Mission data flow related to Space Domain and Sensors

• Strong communication skills to interact with the customer, extract requirements and present proposals of designs and work to perform.

• Experience with Model Based Software Engineering (MBSE) and Model Based Software Development

• Experience with VMware, Jira, Confluence, and git



Bachelors preferably Masters

7-9+ years depending on experience

In compliance with Colorado’s Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the salary range for this role is $120,000 - $160,000. Please note, salary is based on education, experience, and responsibilities.
