Strategy & Planning

• Collaborate with network staff to ensure smooth and reliable operation of software and systems for fulfilling business objectives and processes.

• Work with executive team members, decision makers, and stakeholders to define business requirements and systems goals, and to identify and resolve business systems issues.

Acquisition & Deployment

• Designs and defines systems architecture for new or existing information systems in accordance with vendor best practices, DISA STIGs, and NIST guidance.

• Performs complex network development and design work.

• Participates in the deployments and upgrading of operating systems and services and design of network enhancements in both hybrid Windows/Linux and exclusively Linux environments.

• Provides documents systems on new or existing networks.

• Develops and conducts tests to ensure systems meet documented user requirements.

Operational Management

• Identifies, analyzes, and resolves network problems.

• Provides network/equipment/specialized training and technical guidance.

• Determines network specifications, input/output processes, and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility.

• May provide guidance and leadership to less-experienced systems engineers.

• Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned.

• Comprehensive knowledge of network engineering principles, methods, and techniques.

• Knowledge of the associated hardware, software, and equipment.

• Participates in special projects as assigned.

• This position may require limited travel to CONUS and OCONUS (Non-Hazardous Duty) locations.

Required Skills:


• 8+ years of technical experience required.

• BA/BS required - may substitute additional years of experience

• A minimum of 5 years hands-on experience in Red Hat Linux system administration, including installing and maintaining operating systems, configuring and installing hardware/software utilizing monitoring technologies, troubleshooting, and sustaining the operational health of the infrastructure.

• Ability to troubleshoot and analyze Linux systems and networks efficiently

• Working knowledge of Puppet and ability to create new Puppet manifests

• Proficient with Linux scripting languages (e.g BASH, Python)

• Knowledge of VMWare systems management

• Knowledge of Red Hat Directory Server management

• Networking knowledge (network layers, TCP/IP, Firewalls, IPsec)

• Understanding of Agile, ITIL, DevOps practices.

• Must possess and maintain a TS/SCI clearance.

• Must be IAT level II compliant with DoD 8570.1.

• DoD Computing Environment Certificate/OS Certificate in Linux

• ITIL V4 Foundation within six months of hire.

• May be required to work evening, weekend, and holiday hours as required.


• Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA)

• Experience with Ansible Automation Platform

• Knowledge and experience with NSA’s Commercial Solutions for Classified (CSfC) program and solutions.

• Linux Professional Institute Certification (LPIC-2)

• Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)

In compliance with Colorado’s Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the salary range for this role is $70,000 - $111,000. Please note, salary is based on education, experience, and responsibilities.
