Configuration Manager [2022-036]

ITS is seeking a configuration manager to work in a fast-paced Agile development environment performing installations, configurations, and maintenance of on-premise and cloud infrastructure.? EPIC provides acceleration community-developed scientific and technological enhancements into the operational applications, for Numerical Weather Prediction (NWP) and improved Research to Operations (R2O), within the Unified Forecast System (UFS).


As a member of the team you will ensure adherence to operational agreements and polices (including response times), compliance to program and NOAA standards and requirements (including Section 508 compliance), leveraging of industry best practices for automation and scalability of assets, and implementation of issue detection and alerts.

The following duties are expected to be carried out by the Configuration Manager:

• Review UFS Weather Model (WM) Pull Requests (PRs)/ issues to make sure proper procedures are followed, and resolve issues with developers.

• Work with developers to commit their PRs. Support developers on syncing/merging their branches, run UFS WM RT (or ORT) on the supported tier-1 platforms and resolve issues with developers, this includes testing/debugging users' code on the platforms that they don't have access to, also monitor/debug computational performance issue..

• Maintain/update/troubleshoot/cleanup UFS WM RT framework, CI test, and ORT test script to support all the applications on tier one platforms.

• Maintain/update/cleanup UFS WM input data and baselines on all the supported platforms.

• Update UFS WM testing system with system updates including compiler/library updates.

• Port the model/new applications to new platforms.

• Work with downstream developers (Workflow, Unified Post Processing, etc) on the model code changes.

• Support users on running UFS WM tests (RT, ORT, weekly, etc).


• Bachelor degree and at least 2 years of automated testing experience.

• At least 2 year of experience using a version control system for baselining source code.

• At least 1 year of experience writing and enforcing configuration management plans, policies, and/or procedures.

• Knowledge and understanding of application hosting, with at least 1 year of experience working in a Commercial Infrastructure as a Service (IAAS) or Platform as Service (PAAS) Cloud environment.

• Experience performing change control and configuration audits in a version control systems such as GitHub and other Git-based solutions.

• Experience working in Lean Agile frameworks such as Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) and Enterprise Scrum (eScrum).

• Experience supporting the Software Development Lifecycle throughout all stages.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Good experience in preparing IT technical documents.


• Experience using automate CM tools for IT Service Management.






In compliance with Colorado’s Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the salary range for this role is $70,000 - $95,000. Please note, salary is based on education, experience, and responsibilities.
